Ms. Julie McMullen
I’m Julie McMullen, and I teach 4th grade at Jackson Elementary. Teaching is a second career for me. This will be my second year in the classroom; however I have worked in education as a college advisor and instructor for several years. I have a B.A. in sociology from Central Connecticut State University and a graduate degree in guidance and counseling from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. I am passionate about helping students to reach their goals and it is a privilege for me to work with wonderful 4th graders at Jackson this year.
I love to spend time with my family and friends, read, and take long walks with my dog. I have three great kids; my son and his new bride live in California, and my two daughters are attending college here in Northern Colorado.
One of my main goals is to communicate with parents so that we can work as a team to support your student. I encourage you to contact me about your child’s progress and anything else that you think is important for me to know. The best way to reach me is through email, and you are welcome to call me as well. I am usually available after school, and if you would like to visit me in the morning, we can schedule a time to meet.
I know from working with college students that a strong academic foundation in the elementary years is critical to student success later on. I have high expectations for my students, and I will support them with a welcoming and positive classroom environment so that they feel comfortable taking the risks that go along with learning. My priority is to find ways to make classroom instruction as interesting and engaging as possible. I know this is going to be a fantastic year for 4th grade students and families!
