Mrs. Debbie Highfield
Welcome to my website, and thank you for visiting. You may be wondering who I am, so the following is a short bio to help you get to know me a little bit better.
Born and raised in Colorado, I grew up on a farm that produces peaches and other fruits in the small town of Palisade. My family still lives there and I return as often as I can to help out. I grew up driving tractors and four-wheelers, but the arts were also a huge part of my life growing up. I participated in dance, art, and drama. I also played the piano and the flute. In fact, my music and drama teachers meant so much to me that they inspired me to become an elementary school teacher.
Knowing that my passion was children and teaching, I attended the University of Northern Colorado to fulfill those dreams. I graduated with a BA in English Language Arts/Elementary Education, and a Minor in Special Education. I also completed the Elementary Math and Science Teaching (EMAST) program while I was there. During my years at UNC, I met my husband, Terry. He is also a teacher in our school district. We have three amazing kids that also attend District Six schools. We know and understand busy family life very well! Both of us have been enjoying teaching in the Greeley/Evans area since 2001. The students, staff, and families I've met along the way have blessed my life and taught me so much. They are the reason that I love this career.
I am honored to partner with you in your child's education here at Chappelow K-8 Arts Magnet School. Please contact me by phone or e-mail with any questions you may have. Have a wonderful day!
