8th Grade Science

Hello Panther Families,

My Name is Rob Bailey, and I teach 8th Grade Science at Heath. This is my first year teaching and my second career. I am very excited to be at Heath to begin this new career, as “Heath is the place to be”. I am originally from Indiana, I graduated from Vincennes University with an Associates degree in Conservation law Enforcement, I then received a Bachelor’s degree from Ball State University in Land Resource Management. For the last 20 years, I worked in the live event audio visual world as an Operations Manager. Two years ago, I went back to school to UNC and received a 2nd Bachelor’s degree in Earth Science, Secondary education.

Away from school, I am married and have two children, 12 and 7. I enjoy outdoor sports, and I volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America as an Assistant Scoutmaster.

Our focus in 8th grade science is physical science and preparing the students for high School. The first quarter we will be focusing on:

Scientific Method

Understanding materials scientifically, measurements and units

Separating mixtures

Parts of an atom

Elements and molecules

I firmly believe students learn best from their mistakes and they will have a safe environment to fail over and over.
