Mrs. Alyssa Burgess

Hello Madison Family!

My name is Alyssa Burgess and I am one of the CLD teachers here at Madison Elementary. My goal as the langauge teacher is to support students in their English Language Development, while honoring and celebrating the diverse cultures represented by our students. I think people who are bilingual are brilliant and my hope is that students feel pride and strength in knowing more than one langauge.

I will support students in a co-teaching model. This means that students will stay in their classrooms with their peers. Together, the homeroom teacher and myself will provide support and encouragement as students navigate learning new content.

Some information about me: This is my 9th year teaching in District 6. I truly love the work that we do as well as the community we serve. I wouldn't want to teach anywhere else!

I graduated with my undergrad in 2014 from the University of Northern Colorado in Elementary Education with a minor in Reading. In 2019, I completed my Master's Program through Grand Canyon University where I studied TESOL or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

I have been married to my wonderful husband Seth for almost 9 years and we have 2 children, Bradley and Ellie. We also have 2 dogs, Scarlett and Louie. We spent the summer camping, hiking and fishing. We love the outdoors!

I am looking forward to working with many of you this school year! Please don't hesitate to call or email me with any questions or concerns you may have!
