Degrees and Certifications:
I was born and raised in Greeley, Colorado and attended District 6 schools my whole life. I attended Jackson Elementary, Heath Middle School, and graduated from Greeley Central High School. After that, I left for New York City where I got my Bachelor's degree in Childhood Education. I then got my Master's degree in Special Education. I taught for three years in a fifth grade classroom in New York City. The majority of students I worked with were children of deaf adults (CODAs), hard of hearing, or deaf. I also worked with deaf and hard of hearing co-teachers. After my time there, I decided to take the leap and join the Peace Corps. I served in a small island country called Samoa (near Fiji and New Zealand). My first two years there, I taught English to at-risk students and co-taught with teachers in order to help them to be better equipped to teach using child-centered learning. My last year in the Peace Corps, I worked at a special education school where I co-taught to help teachers work with their students with intellectual disabilities (autism, down syndrome, etc.). I recently came back to Greeley in December of 2019 and am so excited to be a part of the Meeker team!
In my free time, I love spending time with my dog and my family. I also enjoy running, traveling, and baking.
