Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid for the 2025/2026 school year opens on December 1, 2024.
High School Counselors and Post-Secondary Advisors are available to support students in completing their FAFSA form. Boundary schools also often host FAFSA help nights and college application events on Colorado's Free College Application Day.

Unaccompanied Homeless Youth: Accessing Additional Aid

Students designated as Unaccompanied Homeless Youth do not need to include parental information and may qualify for additional financial support.
In the first section of this application under Student Unusual Circumstances, FAFSA asks about student homelessness: At any time on or after July 1, 2024, was the student unaccompanied and either (1) homeless or (3) self-supporting and at risk of being homeless.

If you meet the definition of an Unaccompanied Homeless Youth, be sure to choose 'Yes' for this question to bypass the need for parental information and indicate a maximal financial aid need.

The financial aid office of your intended university will request a Homeless Determination letter. Our district Mckinney-Vento Liason can provide this documentation, with the support of your school's student advocate.

State and Federally Funded Financial Aid Programs

The following are state-funded programs administered by the Colorado Department of Higher Education to provide higher education funding and support to eligible individuals. The assistance covers the remaining balance of the total cost of attendance for eligible Colorado institutions, after any private, state, or federal financial aid.
