Hello and Welcome! My name is Chrissy Menard and I am a fifth grade teacher at McAuliffe. I am so happy and proud to be a Soaring Silver Falcon and part of the McAuliffe STEM Academy. A little bit about myself, my name is Anna Christina Menard, but everyone I know calls me Chrissy. I have lived in Greeley for over 25 years and love calling Greeley home. My husband's name is Sean and we have 2 children, our daughter Olivia and our son Travis. I enjoy gardening with my husband and spending time with my family, one of our favorite things to do is Friday night movie nights at our house. I love to read both fiction and non-fiction, and am always looking forward to starting my next great novel or reading up on an interesting topic, usually something about education. My family loves to do lots of activities outside and I gladly tag along. We live in such a beautiful state! We have 2 dogs, Cooper is a Beagle and Jake is a Doberman/Lab mix. They are so fun-loving. Teaching is so much a part of who I am and I love being a teacher. I consider teaching to be one of the best jobs ever. I have my Master's Degree in Teaching Elementary Education from UNC here in Greeley, and consider myself a lifelong learner.
These are a few of my favorite things:
Numbers: 8 and 11
Book: Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli
Musical: Sound of Music and The King and I
Food: Fruit, Popcorn, and pretzels dipped in Nutella
Candy: Cherry and Lime Lifesavers, Starbursts, and Kit Kats
Drink: I love water with a slice of lemon or lime, tea (hot and cold), and a good cup of coffee in the mornings
Music: A bit of everything depending on the mood or what I am doing
Animals: I like many animals, the giraffe because it is so tall, and the bumblebee because it really shouldn't be able to fly but it does anyway. Its body is so big and its wings are so small.
During the school year, the 5th Grade webpage is a great place to find updates, information, and materials for current and upcoming events, as well as resources to help with math instruction and homework. You can also find copies of the math homework there if you need it. Mrs. McNair, Mrs. Starkey, Miss Rafferty, and I work very closely so that we can provide the best instruction for each student. Every student's success is important to our whole team.
Parents, it is my pleasure to spend each day with your child. I am looking forward to another amazing school year!
Please feel free to contact me with questions, concerns, or even to check in about your student's progress. Here's to an amazing school year!
~Thank you for visiting!
