  • Billie Martinez Bond Project Update

Martinez Elementary School is one of the first schools that will have its bond projects completed. Beginning this summer, construction will begin on a secured entryway for Martinez. As well, the school will receive new door hardware (locks and handles), some new doors where necessary, new temperature control system, and some new paint and flooring. The school has also submitted a plan for instructional/career and college preparation upgrades.
The school will also repurpose its library to create a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math lab, including outdoor learning spaces.
As well, the roof is being replaced at Martinez Elementary School with funding from the Mill Levy Override, and possibly a BEST Grant. Awarding of the BEST grants should be announced in late May, 2020. If District 6 receives the BEST grant for the Martinez roof, the MLO dollars will be reassigned to another project.
