Greeley West Design Advisory Group Update

The Greeley West Design Advisory Group met on April 8 for a virtual meeting.. Architects from Hord, Coplan and Macht presented a preliminary schematic design for the new Greeley West High School. The architects presented a video “fly through” of what the exterior and interior of the new school would look like. The preliminary design of the school is a “fan” meaning the shape of the building will be curved. One end is core area classrooms like math, science, English language arts and social studies. The other end of the building will house Career Technical Education classes such as agriculture and construction trades, which are adjacent to the art rooms. The center of the building is a large commons area, flanked on one side by the auditorium on  the other by the main gymnasium. There are outdoor learning spaces, outdoor seating for lunch, an upstairs library and multimedia center, secured entryway near all the administrative offices, special education classrooms that include a small kitchen and laundry and much more.

Members of the Design Advisory Group asked questions and made recommendations to the architects. A final design plan for the new Greeley West High School is very close to being completed, and should be available for final review in the next few weeks. The next Greeley West Design Advisory Group virtual meeting is Wednesday, April 22.
