Before and after school Programming

We are excited to kick off our after-school clubs this week.  If your student brought home a paper before Thanksgiving break confirming they made it into their club of choice, please remind them to stay after school Tuesday and Thursday for their clubs!  If your student did not bring home that form, there will be another opportunity for new clubs in January!  If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Zwickle or Mrs. Thomasson.  


Wreaths Across America

Thank you for your generosity!  Thanks to the support of many in the Heiman community, together with Wreaths Across America, all 192 known veteran graves in the Evans Cemetery will have a wreath for the holidays.  If you would like to witness the wreath laying ceremony, please join us at the Evans Cemetery at 10:00 AM on December 18.


Information on Youth COVID-19 Vaccines to Share With Families- 

The Weld County Department of Public Health is asking all schools to share information with families about the COVID-19 vaccine for students ages 5-11. Please share the attached information in your school newsletters or in other parent communication. You can include this message, "Some families have been asking for information about COVID-19 vaccines for children. Here is information we have been asked to share by the Weld County Department of Public Health and Sunrise Community Health. If you have questions about the vaccine, please contact your child's health care provider."

Open Enrollment is November 1-December 16

Beginning November 1, Greeley-Evans School District 6 will accept applications for students who want to attend a school that is outside their boundary area.


Any parent or guardian interested in enrolling their child in a school outside their home boundary for the 2022-2023 school year must apply during the open enrollment period, which is November 1, 2021, through December 16, 2021. While District 6 is able to accommodate most open enrollment requests, it may not be able to approve requests for enrollment into schools, specific grade levels or special programs that are at or above capacity or cannot fulfill the specific needs of the student.


Students currently open-enrolled are eligible to stay at their current school through the highest grade offered at that school and do not need to apply yearly. Also, students approved for open enrollment to a school outside their home boundary, regardless of programming needs, will generally not be provided District 6 transportation services. Those open enrolling to the Tointon Academy of Pre-Engineering from outside the boundary may be eligible for transportation services. Anyone living outside Greeley-Evans School District 6 may open enroll into a District 6 school, but will not be eligible for district transportation.


Some District 6 schools are fully open-enrolled schools and do not have traditional boundaries. These are Chappelow Arts Magnet (K-8), Fred Tjardes School of Innovation (K-8), and Early College Academy (9-12). Families wishing to attend any of these schools must fill out an open enrollment application.



We are excited to announce the return of volunteers to our school! We have missed seeing all of you in the building and look forward to your return. We are very excited for this opportunity as it allows our families, teachers, and staff members to interact in person which benefits our students. Examples of volunteering needs may include, but are not limited to: tutoring, leading small group activities, helping teachers/staff with organizational tasks, supervising students on field trips, and working special events.

 At-Home Tests Available for Families

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment  is providing FREE, in-home COVID-19 tests to parents, guardians and caregivers of school-aged children. This information will be sent directly to District 6 families, but please encourage interested parents and guardians to enroll in this program. 


You can apply to receive the rapid, COVID-19 tests at The form takes only a few minutes to fill out. Tests will be sent to your home free of charge, with instructions on how to administer.


Emergency Substitutes

There is an opportunity for family members to apply to become an emergency substitute for our school.  A substitute can earn just over $100/day and there is increased pay for positions that are considered long-term.  If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please contact our HR department at 970-348-6070!


Absence due to COVID-19 Quarantine

If your student(s) is absent due to a possible COVID exposure or has tested positive for COVID, and the school has let you know the student needs to stay at home, please follow this process:

  • After the 2nd day of the quarantine, log into the Zoom links that will be provided by your students' teacher to join the classes virtually.
  • Please contact your students' teacher by email or phone with any questions about this process or to check on required classwork.

General Absence from School

If your student(s) is absent from school for any other reason (waiting for COVID results, ill, family matters, etc), then please follow this process:

  • Notify the front office using the Attendance Line (970)348-2466
  • Contact your students' teacher by email or phone with any questions about this process or to check on required classwork.
  • Students are given two days to make up work upon returning to school. During the absence period, students will need to access online materials provided by the classroom teacher. 


COVID protocols:

Because we believe it is important to keep as many students learning in person as possible, please remember to show kindness to others and respect our COVID protocols.  Please contact the office in any of the following situations:

  • Any student/staff who has had direct exposure to someone with COVID must stay home
  • A student/staff with one or more of the following major symptoms, must stay home
    • Feeling feverish, having chills or a fever of 100.4 or above
    • New or worsening cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Loss of taste or smell
  • A student or staff with 2 or more of the following minor symptoms should stay home
    • Sore throat
    • Runny nose or congestion
    • Body ache or headache
    • Fatigue
    • Nausea
    • Vomiting or diarrhea


Breakfast and Lunch:

ALL students are able to eat breakfast and lunch free of charge again this year!  We have 3 Grab and Go breakfast stations throughout the building in the mornings and teachers will prompt students to grab a breakfast if they would like.  We encourage all students to take advantage of breakfast, especially 2nd graders because they have the latest lunch.  They can keep some of their breakfast items for a morning snack.  Students eat breakfast in their classrooms.


Our lunch periods are 30 minutes long and students are eating lunch in the cafeteria.  We are not allowing visitors or parents to eat in our cafeteria at this time.  Just like last year, there are no microwaves available for student use during lunch.  Please encourage your students to eat the school hot lunch or bring items from home that do not require a microwave.  Here is the lunch schedule:

10:30 AM Kindergarten

11:00 AM-1st Grade

11:30 AM-4th grade

12:00 PM-5th grade

12:30 PM-3rd grade

1:00 PM-2nd grade


School Schedule Information for 2021-2022

All District 6 schools will have a delayed start on Mondays for the next school year. Schools will start one hour later than the normal start time on Mondays. Beginning Monday, August 16th we will have our first late start Monday. Here is our bell schedule:

        Arrival Time and breakfast: Monday: 8:35 am, 7:35 am Tuesday-Friday

        First Bell: Monday: 8:40 am, 7:40 am Tuesday-Friday

        Tardy Bell: Monday: 8:50 am, 7:50 am Tuesday-Friday
