Message from the principal-November16, 2020

We are going remote, and we can’t wait to see all our Huskies online tomorrow morning!  Our students and teachers are well prepared to be the very best remote learning classrooms possible.  If there is any way we can support your family during this remote learning time, please do not hesitate to to reach out to your child’s teacher or to the front office.  There will be at least one administrator and one secretary on site throughout this period of time!  We have high expectations that our Huskies will arrive on time to their online classes, wear school appropriate clothes and they will participate and show the 4 B's while in class.  Remember to contact the office if your child is sick and will not be able to attend class remotely. If you need technical assistance with your child's device, please visit the District 6 website at www.greeleyschools.org/Page/25021

Greeley-Evans School District 6 is now taking applications for students who want to attend a school that is outside their boundary area.  Any parent or guardian interested in enrolling their child in a school outside their home boundary for the 2021-22 school year must apply during the open enrollment period, which is November 1, 2020, thorough December 17, 2020. While District 6 is able to accommodate most open enrollment requests, it may not be able to approve requests for enrollment into schools, specific grade levels or special programs that are at or above capacity or cannot fulfill the specific needs of the student.  All open enrollment applications are online. More information can be found at www.greeleyschools.org/openenrollment.

Nutrition services will start delivering food to neighborhoods via bus this week.  Any child 1-18 is eligible for the meals, regardless of school registration or benefit status.  It is vitally important that parents keep sick children home. We need you to keep your child home if your child or someone in your home is showing one of these major symptoms of COVID-19:

  • Feeling feverish or having chills or a temperature of 100.0 F or greater
  • New or unexplained persistent cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Loss of taste or smell

In addition, please keep your child at home and contact your child’s healthcare provider if they, or someone in your home is experiencing two or more of these minor symptoms:

  • Sore throat
  • Runny nose or congestion
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me by email at annramirez@greeleyshoools.org.

Families can help prevent the spread of any infectious illness by implementing these simple practices:

  • Wash your hands, and ensure your children are washing their hands frequently and for at least 20 seconds. This is especially important after going to the bathroom, before eating or after coughing or blowing your nose.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, and teach your children to refrain touching their faces.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces by using regular household cleaning sprays and wipes.
  • And most importantly, stay home if you are sick and keep your child home if he or she is sick! This is the most effective way of stopping the spread of illness.

If you or your child are ill, please call your physician’s office. They will want to know the symptoms you or your child are experiencing before you visit the doctor’s office.

Our school has been participating in Boxtops for Education program for a long time. This program is going digital. From now on we will not be accepting physical Boxtops here at school. Instead, we ask that you download the app and do all Boxtops for Education digitally. It’s as easy as scanning your receipt.  Make sure to select Ann K. Heiman as your school!
