District 6 to host School Board Candidate Orientation

Greeley-Evans School District 6 will host a School Board Candidate Orientation on Monday, June 12 from 4 - 4:45 p.m. at the District 6 Administration Building, 1025 9th Avenue.

The orientation is an opportunity for those interested in seeking election to the Board of Education to better understand the expectations and duties of a Board of Education Director. Topics discussed will include legal definitions, meeting protocols, Board duties and responsibilities, and time commitment for serving.

The Board of Education is composed of seven volunteers elected at large. This November, three seats on the Board of Education are up for election.

To be eligible to run for election, a candidate must be a registered elector of District 6 for at least 12 consecutive months prior to the date of the election, has not been convicted of a sexual offense against a child, is at least 18 years of age, is a citizen of the United States, and has not served on the District 6 Board for two consecutive terms prior to being elected.

Following the School Board Candidate Orientation, the Board will hold a public work session from 4:45 - 5:30 p.m., and a public business meeting at 6 p.m.
