D6 Athlete of the Week - Andrew Alirez
Student Name: Andrew Alirez
School: Greeley Central High School
Grade Level: Senior
Sport(s): Wrestling
What are some of your most memorable athletic accomplishments?
My most memorable accomplishment was my 4th place finish at the Dave Schultz Memorial tournament. I wrestled the best I ever have and beat many tough competitors - even a NCAA champion.
What are your goals for this upcoming season?
My goals for my Freshman year in college is to simply improve as much as possible and to display fearlessness and composure every time I step on the mat.
What is one lesson you have learned from playing high school sports?
High School wrestling has taught me the valuable lesson of fortitude. Whether you feel good or bad, you have to bite down on that mouthpiece and perform anyway. I've also learned that failures in life are a minor setback and not a death sentence. Failures are lessons to learn from and can lead to great success.
What are your career or college plans after you graduate high school?
My plans are to go win 4 NCAA titles, multiple World and Olympic titles, and then to go on to win a UFC title after my wrestling career is finished. Then, I would love to coach full time.
What is on your Pre-Game Music Playlist?
I listen to Kevin Gates.
What is your go-to Pre-Game food?
Brown rice, gummy bears, and water.
Last show you binge-watched on Netflix?
I don't have time to do that. #IDontGetTired
