Jackson Elementary Parent Communication
Dear Jackson Families:
Jackson Elementary School will be moving to remote learning on Tuesday, September 1 and will continue until Monday, September 14. School will be closed Monday, August 31 as teachers prepare for the switch to remote learning. You will need to keep your children home or with a caregiver until September 14.
On Saturday, an individual who had been in contact with a fourth grade cohort tested positive for COVID-19. The individuals who are considered to be at high risk of exposure have been contacted and are being asked to quarantine for 14 days. Three adults and 22 students have been identified in this exposure. We are working with the Weld County Department of Public Health on our response to this exposure.
Because this is the second quarantine in one week, we have decided that Jackson should stop in person learning for the next 14 days and have students and staff move to remote learning. This will allow time for students and staff to be away from each other and stop any further transmission of COVID-19. It will also allow for additional sanitizing and disinfecting at the school.
All students, except Kindergarten, were issued Chromebooks on Friday to use for remote learning. Teachers will be contacting families Monday to discuss how and when to log on for remote learning on Tuesday. If you did not receive a Chromebook or if your family does not have access to the Internet, please give that information to your classroom teacher on Monday. Kindergarten students will be given learning packets to work on during remote learning. Teachers will contact Kindergarten parents about how to support their students in this learning.
If you need district-provided meals for your student during remote learning, please fill out the meal order form, and be sure to designate the site where you would like to pick up the meals. Please submit this order form by noon the day before your pick up so that Nutrition Services can plan and prepare accordingly.
We are very disappointed to pause in-person learning, but believe this is the best decision to continue ensuring the health and safety of our students and staff.
As a reminder, if your child develops symptoms consistent with COVID-19:
- Follow these isolation instructions.
- Have your child tested.
- Continue to keep your child home from school and avoid other activities around other people.
- Notify the school.
- Seek medical care and testing for COVID-19, calling your doctor before you show up
Thank you for supporting your child in this temporary move to remote learning. Please reach out to your child’s teacher or the administration at Jackson if you have any questions or concerns over the next two weeks.
