Sport(s): Golf and Track and Field

Position(s): Pole Vault

Stats: "My personal best is 15'2" which I got last week at the Welco Championships. I also beat the University Schools record this year. The previous school record was 14'4"."

Tell us about your greatest athletic achievement to date:

"My greatest athletic achievement to date was when I won state last year. I was seeded 3rd, but I got every height on the first try. And, I got a new personal best of 14' at the time." 


What are your goals for this season? 

"My goals for this season is to get 16' and to fix my form so I get to higher heights."


How do athletics make you a better student?

"Athletics make me a better student because of discipline and determination to try my best."


What mental tool do you use when you're under pressure?

"I don't tend to get very stressed out. I listen to music for relaxation." 


What is the best part about competing?

"The best part about competing is the adrenaline of trying to hit new heights." 


What are your career or college plans after you graduate high school?

"My college plan is to ple vault in college and go into public works." 


What advice do you have for younger athletes who want to join your sport?

"My advice I have younger athletes that want to join pole vaulting is to understand that when starting out, you are not going to be perfect. You have to work hard by lifting, speed training, and watching videos of your own jumps."


What is your favorite song to listen to prior to competing?

"I don't listen to any music prior to competing." 


What is your go-to Pre-Competition food?

"My go-to Pre-Competition food is a protein drink."
