Board Recognizes National School Counseling Week
Honorary Proclamation of the board of Education of Weld County School District 6
Proclamation Recognizing February 1-5, 2021, as National School Counseling Week
School counselors are employed in schools to help students reach their full potential. Through their endless dedication, school counselors are actively committed to helping students explore their abilities, strengths, interests, and talents as these traits relate to career awareness and development. School counselors help parents focus on ways to further the educational, personal and social growth of their children.
School counselors work with teachers and other educators to help students explore their potential and set realistic goals for themselves. School counselors seek to identify and utilize community resources that can enhance and complement comprehensive school counseling programs and help students become productive members of society. Comprehensive developmental school counseling programs are considered an integral part of the educational process that enables all students to achieve success in school.
Remote learning and quarantine requirements have drastically impacted the mental health of many people throughout the district, and the role of the school counselor has been more critical than ever in helping students, parents, and school staff deal with mental health issues that become exacerbated by the virus and its subsequent restrictions.
Now, therefore, be it proclaimed that the Board of Education of Greeley-Evans School District 6 recognizes and celebrates February 1 through February 5, 2021, as National School Counseling Week.
