Campus monitor named Classified Employee of the Year

The Greeley-Evans School District 6 Classified Council has selected Greeley Central High School Campus Monitor Amy Luster as the Classified Employee of the Year.

Luster was honored at the Board of Education meeting Monday night. She has worked for 15 years as a Campus Monitor at Greeley Central.

A total of 43 people were nominated for the 2022 Classified Employee of the Year. Classified employees are hourly staff who serve in support roles in the district and in schools, including custodians, bus drivers, bus monitors, para professionals, school secretaries, office managers, facilities and grounds workers, and many more.

All nominees were honored at the Board of Education meeting by Classified Council Co-Vice Presidents Linda Rulla and Julie Lewis.

Luster said she is honored to receive the award.

“It’s very special to me. Greeley Central is my family,” Luster said. “I love my kids and I love the staff.”

Luster received numerous nominations for this award.

“One particularly special thing she did last school year, during remote learning, was coming to the school with the CLD students to help tutor them through their remote learning,” one nomination stated. “She always brought them snacks and showed how much she cared for them and their learning, during the most difficult time.”

Attending graduation and seeing students reach that milestone is one of the favorite parts of her job, Luster said.

“I love graduation day. It just makes me so happy when they make it across the stage,” Luster said. “I just want the best for all of them.”
