What is River of Words?

River of Words is a national poetry and art competition for students in grades K-12, implemented by the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress, on the theme of watersheds and the environment designed to help youth explore the natural and cultural history of the place they live, and to express what they discover in poetry and visual art.

Students from Chappelow recently entered their art and poetry into the international competition. Judging will be held in Spring 2019, but our students are already winners for so artistically expressing themselves, and for representing Chappelow in such a fine manner. Thanks to Alyson Toews, Arasy Martinez, August Gaza, Eleanor Gaza, Jilly Huang, Lily Schuman, Ruby Frederick-Law, Sarah Rasmussen, and Taylor Dunbar for sharing their creativity with us!
