D6 Athlete of the Week Logo

"Kylee is an all-around outstanding athlete. She is positive and wants nothing but the best for her team. She is always giving 110% in practices and in games. She might be the quietest on the court, but she is a gem to watch while playing volleyball. She is also an excellent student in the classroom. I have never had to worry about her being ineligible, she has had excellent grades. She is always involved in what she does whether it is sport related or classroom related." - Aime Kiefer, Volleyball Coach

Tell us about your greatest athletic achievement to date:

"My greatest athletic achievement is winning both the soccer and volleyball MVP award against our rival Central. I won my sophomore year for soccer (5/21/2021) and my junior year for volleyball (10/26/2021)."

What are your goals for this season?

"Volleyball is already coming to an end, but I hope to take what I learned from our hardships and bumps we encountered, and use that to improve the upcoming basketball and soccer season. I also want to continue improving as an athlete, and end with two winning seasons."

How do athletics make you a better student?

"Athletics challenge me to balance my time, and work hard on and off the court. Playing sports has always given me purpose in school due to eligibility requirements and student athlete awards. Over time, my mindset and expectations for sports reflected my time in the classroom. Athletics have encouraged me to better myself and continue to work and improve all aspects of my life, including academics."

What mental tool do you use when you're under pressure?

"Confidence. I remind myself that I know how to play volleyball, and in critical situations, I remain focused at the task at hand instead of overthinking. Half of sports is a mental game, and it takes confidence and trust in yourself to shut out any negative or doubtful thoughts."

What is the best part about competing?

"The best part about competing is the rewarding feelings associated with hard work and execution. To take what you have been practicing and putting it to action against competition is an accomplishment. It shows progress and the beauty of hard work. Progression in a sport is reflected in game play which comes from competing."

What are your career or college plans after you graduate high school?

"To attend a 4-year University studying early education or journalism while continuing my volleyball career."

What advice do you have for younger athletes who want to join your sport?

"Your number one competitor is you, so use that as motivation to better yourself as an athlete."

What is your favorite song to listen to prior to competing?

"'Legend' by The Score."

What is your go-to Pre-Competition food?

"Pickles."
