D6 Athlete of the Week - Autumn Scheopner
"She is an unsung hero for the program. She hasn't played softball for long, but gives it her all every day. She's always looking for ways to improve and one of those players you want beside you as she helps encourage the team. She's coachable and just an all-around good human. She's involved in the aviation school at Aims and inspires so many to be kind and giving." - Kaylyn Kingman, Softball Coach

Tell us about your greatest athletic achievement to date:
"9/12/2023, I hit a line drive to right field and got on base. We had two outs, and I had the confidence to step up and be the leader. 9/05/2023, first time bunting in a game, and I got on base once. The second time, I was a productive player and moved the runner over one."
What are your goals for this season?
"My goals are to have fun and go out with a bang!"
How do athletics make you a better student?
"Athletics help me manage my time between school, games/practices, and home. Athletics push me to be communicative and be a leader among my peers."
What mental tool do you use when you're under pressure?
"I tell myself I can, to believe, to fight, and be a role model for others. This previous game we had two outs with no one on base, and it was up to me to change that. And, I did."
What is the best part about competing?
"I get to have fun outside of school and home."
What are your career or college plans after you graduate high school?
"I will not be going to college for softball. I am going to try to get my pilots license, and major in biology or meteorology."
What advice do you have for younger athletes who want to join your sport?
"My advice to all...talk to your teachers about missing school, work hard for your grades, and please help your team by being eligible."
What is your favorite song to listen to prior to competing?
"I don't have a favorite song to listen to prior to competing. I let the other girls choose, and sometimes just listen to my playlist."
What is your go-to Pre-Competition food?
"I like to eat cucumbers, tomatoes, and sometimes a small smoothie."
