Student Spotlight: Timia Arguello, Greeley-Evans Alternative Program
Welcome to the District 6 Student Spotlight! In this weekly series, we will highlight an exceptional student and the achievements that are making them successful in their schools. These students were selected by their school staff and administration for going above and beyond with outstanding grades, work ethic, community service, and school involvement. Congratulations to these students for the work they are accomplishing in and outside of the classroom.
"Timia came to us a junior who was timid and wary of completing her school work due to confidence. She left GAP being a school leader, holding a full-time job and working tirelessly to finish her classes. She is a responsible, smart, resilient and funny student, and is an inspiration to watch grow. The GAP staff knows she will live the life she is determined to live." - Meredith Allen, Principal, GAP
Student Spotlight: Timia Arguello
Clubs or Activities:
I completed two sessions of AmeriCorps and earned secondary scholarships.
I plan to attend college. Working with AmeriCorps has opened my eyes to opportunities that I want to explore. We did a lot of conservation work. I was able to attend FireCamp and earned my S212. My dream career now is to be a wildland firefighter.
My favorite subject in school is science. I enjoy learning about the solar system, Earth science, biology and especially doing the projects. I love learning about the universe and how the body itself reacts and works. I love being creative with my projects.
My favorite teacher has to be Darren. Math is no doubt my hardest subject but through all of the hard times, Darren reminds me that if I really try my hardest, I can get it done.
What Are Some of Your Hobbies:
Some hobies of mine are to be in nature, outdoor activities such as volleyball and hiking.
Favorite Food or Restaurant:
Mac and Cheese
A Bronx Tale
My personal goals are to become my best self which includes school, career, and mindset. I want to be able to go to school for fire science and complete it.
The Best Things About My School:
The teachers. They have a way of showing you different ways to help you understand. They are all so sweet and helpful.
