Chappelow Sumdog team takes 6th place in National Contest!

Chappelow students did an amazing job in the National Sumdog Math Competition. There were 363 schools entered into the contest, with schools from all over the continental United States and Alaska and Hawaii.

Thanks to the perseverance and unwavering commitment of our students, Chappelow finished 6th in the nation! Here are a few highlights:

Students really pulled out all of the stops in this competition--

·        In the state contest, 31 students from Chappelow Magnet School answered 49,426 questions correctly between them. In this national contest, 31 students from Chappelow Magnet School answered 171,022 questions correctly between them.

·        In the state contest, Chappelow had 3 students who answered over 6000 questions correctly. In this national contest, we had TEN students answer over 6000 questions correctly!!

·        In the state contest, the Chappelow student with the most correct answers had just under 7000 correct responses. In this national contest, the Chappelow student with the most correct answers had over 19,000 correct responses! Way to go, Dakota!

·        On the final day of the competition, Chappelow students made the Top 10 on the Daily Results board, which shows the highest average number of correct responses per day.

·        Chappelow students made the Top 10 on the Busy Bees category. This category shows the schools with highest average questions answered correctly per student (counting top 15 students in school only) (8995 correct responses per person)

As you can see, these students made sure that Chappelow was well represented in this completion. Parents, thank you so much for encouraging, supporting, and cheering our students on. Students, take pride in this team accomplishment. You worked so well as a team, and even though there was some friendly rivalry between each of you, you all kept the interests the team in mind.
