Greeley-Evans School District 6 has been awarded a competitive grant from the Colorado Energy Office to replace aging boilers at one of its elementary schools.

The Energy Savings for Schools Supplemental Environmental Projects Grant has reimbursed District 6 for more than $120,000 to replace two boilers at Jackson Elementary School, providing greater reliability and efficiency to the school’s heating system.

The boilers at Jackson were actually replaced in October 2018, and the grant will reimburse District 6 for most of the cost of that project. District 6 provided $12,000 in matching funds to receive the grant.

“We, as a district, continue to look for opportunities such as this grant to help address our critical facility needs,” said Superintendent Dr. Deirdre Pilch. “It helps us leverage our limited resources for capital improvements while doing maintenance that is necessary to keep our learning environments comfortable and safe for our students.”
